i work at kings island in the summer as a janitor type person. i chose to be a teacher because i wanted to coach baseball. i have some experience in tutoring kids in math and history.

ISTE NETS-T Standards for Teachers.
1. Facilitate and Inspire student learning and creativity
Students have to be into what they are learning, otherwise they will not want to learn it. Or it will not stick with them for more than 20 minutes. I hope to be able to make sure that my students can learn and be interested in what i am teaching them. This is also crucial because it allows the teacher to continue to learn by taking in the feedback and comments of their students. One example of this in class is when we showed our presentations, we had the students get into the activities by showing interesting video clips and music videos. This actually gets the students interests and makes them want to actually learn the subject. Another example is after each group presents, we all get into a big group and give feedback to them so they can see what worked and what they need to improve on next time.
5. Engage in Growth and leadership
This is an important standard because teachers need to continue to learn other wise they can be teaching out dated information to their students. Also they need to be able to be leaders, someone that the kids can look up to. Remember that not all kids might have had a good home life like you might have. They might need a role model to look up to and say, i can actually do this. Teachers need to stay up to date with technology and also show students how to use these things. They can also show how the internet can be used to further their knowledge and find places that actually give them credible information. One example of this from class was when my group presented our project, we had students find the best, credible information on a good website. This showed the students that the internet isnt just used for fun, it can also be used for learning and also learning how to find credible information.
3. Model Digital Age Work
I think it is important that teachers start using technology more in the classroom. Since the world is becoming more and more modernized, we need to keep students up to date with the new materials. This ensures that students will benefit as much as possible from the technology that is out there, because not all students have the same technology at their homes. Some students might not even have a computer, so it would be very helpful for them if at school they could access a computer every once and a while. One example of this from class is all the new technologies that you have shown us so far. We have learning different things such as wikispace to communicate, and also googledocs to put some of your most visited sites on one screen so they can be easily accessed.
